We are incredibly proud to celebrate our Board Chair, John Cleary, who has been awarded a Medal of the Order of Australia (OAM) for service to the community through the not-for-profit sector in the 2026 King’s Birthday Honours.

This is a deeply deserved recognition, reflecting decades of selfless leadership and an unwavering commitment to strengthening communities, creating opportunity, and ensuring no one is left behind.

At the heart of John’s leadership is a profound commitment to people who are too often overlooked. Through his compassion and advocacy, he has helped transform lives, creating genuine opportunities for independence, dignity and connection.

What stands out most is not only the scale of John’s impact, but his humility. As he so powerfully shared, this honour reflects the “amazing colleagues, great friends and most importantly family” who have supported the journey – along with the many “silent heroes” across Australia doing extraordinary work every day without recognition.

We see that same spirit in our own organisation: dedicated people working quietly behind the scenes, driven by purpose, compassion and a belief in better outcomes for all. John’s recognition shines a light on each of them.

We are honoured to work alongside John and continually inspired by his leadership, his values, and his deep commitment to community.

Congratulations, John – so well deserved.
