The Northern Coalfields Community Care Association has evolved from the aspiration of the Board of Directors of Cessnock District Hospital as a means to provide accommodation for seniors in the community who required flexible service provision but not of an acute nature.

NCCCA is a vibrant community owned, not for profit organisation, a Company Limited by Guarantee, registered as a charity and a Deductible Gift Recipient with the Australian Taxation Office, incorporated in 1988 and managed by a Board of Directors.

Over the following years, NCCCA grew rapidly by way of establishing three residential aged care facilities totalling 90 beds over two sites, being Mountain View Lodge Hostel, Jacaranda Grove Hostel and Abernethy Nursing Home. In 1996 the Association acquired the licence for Cessnock House Nursing Home, a 30-bed facility, specifically accommodating women from the State Government. The facility was under a lease arrangement. Cessnock House was an aging facility and represented shared accommodation in mostly four bed wards. It was decided that more appropriate accommodation was required and after discussion with the Commonwealth Government a rebuilding program commenced in 2008/2009 with additional licences obtained. As a result of closure of Cessnock House an additional 19 licences were obtained.

These additional bed licences were reallocated to existing sites, providing single room accommodation and the provision of specific dementia accommodation for the community.

NCCCA currently operates residential accommodations totalling 139 beds over 2 sites.

The Association has always had a passion for ensuring older people receive the highest standard of care and support and to make a difference by way of quality services being available to people irrespective of their socio-economic background and individual circumstances.

NCCCA has provided independent living accommodation and provides accommodation by way of a partnership arrangement with the Department of Housing for disadvantaged persons.

Enhancing the health and well being of individuals, families and their communities is our aim and to provide care in continuity for residents in their preferred place of residence with minimal disturbance or relocation.

With greater choice in selecting care services, the Association was granted approval to provide Home Care Packages in 2015.

The Association has gradually expanded its home services by way of acquisition since 2015 by way of Commonwealth Home Support Packages (CHSP) and Community Transport services.

Current day we are pleased to provide a variety of services available to our clients with a focus on providing the best and safest customer care possible for our community with care options tailored to your specific requirements.

From a small employer in 1991 we have over 200 staff employed current day.
