NCCCA Co-Founder Recognised with Order of Australia Honour

Northern Coalfields Community Care Association (NCCCA) is proud to honour and congratulate Ted Jackson, co-founder and former Chief Executive Officer, on being awarded an Order of Australia as part of the Australia Day 2026 Honours, in recognition of his service to aged welfare and the Cessnock community.

Ted Jackson has played a pivotal role in the establishment and growth of NCCCA as a co-founder in 1988, helping to build a community-based organisation from 1990 that is founded on compassion, integrity and a deep commitment to supporting older people to live with dignity, respect and independence.

His leadership and vision laid the foundations for services that continue to support individuals, families and carers across the region today.

Along with leading as the CEO of NCCCA until 2022, Ted was CEO of Cessnock Hospital for 6 years, a former Accountant of 14 years, and supported the community by assisting with the establishment of the Cessnock District Health Benefits Fund. He was recognised as the Cessnock Senior Citizen of the year in 2020.

For decades, Ted has been a tireless advocate for older people in Cessnock and championing for services that strengthen, support and uplift the local community.
Current NCCCA Chief Executive Officer Tony Bidstrup said the recognition was a “fitting tribute to Ted’s lifelong dedication to community care.”

NCCCA Board Chair John Cleary notes that “Ted’s contribution to aged care in Cessnock is exceptional. His commitment has left a legacy that continues to benefit our community every day.”
